Domaine Pierre Girardin is a prestigious wine estate located in Meursault, Burgundy. Founded by Pierre-Vincent Girardin, the 13th generation of his family in winemaking, the domaine has quickly gained recognition for its exceptional wines.
Pierre-Vincent’s winemaking journey began at the age of 21, with his first vintage in 2017. He inherited 4.5 hectares of vineyards from his father, Vincent Girardin, who sold most of the family estate in 2011 but retained these select parcels for his son. This inheritance allowed Pierre-Vincent to build a solid foundation for producing wines that honor his family legacy while embracing modern winemaking techniques.
The estate spans 6.5 hectares, covering prestigious appellations such as Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Pommard, Corton, and Beaune. Notably, Pierre-Vincent also acquired 6.2 hectares of Chardonnay and Savagnin in the Jura region, expanding his wine portfolio. Pierre-Vincent practices organic viticulture and is aiming for full organic certification, incorporating biodynamic practices guided by the lunar calendar. His approach includes trellising vines for optimal sun exposure and using custom 456-liter barrels to minimize the influence of new wood, preserving the wines’ aromatic freshness. In the cellar, he favors gentle methods such as soft pressing and minimal intervention, avoiding fining and filtration to allow the wines to fully express their terroir.
The 2019 vintage marked a significant milestone, with wines praised for their elegance and depth. Pierre-Vincent’s commitment to expressing the unique characteristics of each vineyard has helped position Domaine Pierre Girardin as a noteworthy producer in Burgundy’s dynamic winemaking scene.
