Domaine de la Romanée‑Conti
Domaine de la Romanée‑Conti, often abbreviated as DRC, is the most legendary estate in Burgundy — and arguably the world. Rooted in Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits, its origins trace back to the 13th century, when the monks of the Abbey of Saint Vivant first cultivated these revered slopes. Over the centuries, the vineyard known as La Romanée passed through the hands of nobility and prominent figures, including Prince de Conti, whose name it still bears today.
The modern estate began to take shape in the 20th century under the stewardship of the de Villaine and Leroy families. Today, Aubert de Villaine and his successors uphold a legacy defined by biodynamic farming, rigorous selection, and traditional, non-interventionist winemaking. The domaine produces exclusively Grand Cru wines from the most storied parcels in Burgundy: La Romanée‑Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands-Échezeaux, Échezeaux, and Montrachet (its sole white).
Every bottle is the result of ultra-low yields, careful hand harvesting, and minimalist vinification—offering wines of unparalleled depth, refinement, and age-worthiness. Lauded for their haunting aromatics, silky power, and seamless balance, DRC’s wines are both a benchmark of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and a symbol of Burgundy’s most sacred terroirs.
