Pristine

Founded in the 17th century and passed down through six generations, Domaine Truchetet is based in Premeaux-Prissey, a hamlet of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Since January 2019, Julie and Morgan Truchetet have run the estate together with Pauline Genot, having taken over from their father Jean-Pierre — which makes this bottle part of their inaugural vintage at the helm.

The domaine works seven hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with vines averaging 60 years old. Farming is entirely hands-on — cover crops, soil work and plant-based preparations of dandelion, nettle and horsetail in place of synthetic treatments. The estate completed its organic certification in 2023.

« La Montagne » comes from the high, cool and windswept plateau above Chaux, on eroded limestone planted between 1995 and 1998. Altitude and exposure keep the fruit taut and lend the finish a clear mineral edge. Production averages around 2,500 bottles per year.

Fruit is hand-harvested and double-sorted, then fully destemmed and given a short cold maceration. Fermentation runs on indigenous yeasts alone, with minimal punch-down and gentle pump-over. Malolactic takes place in barrel, followed by 12 months in barriques, 25% new. Bottling is done on site by gravity, without pumps.

2019 was a hot, dry season in Burgundy that produced a small, concentrated crop. In the Hautes-Côtes, altitude preserved the acidity — giving a wine with the ripeness of the vintage and the freshness of the terroir.
