Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg works just under nine hectares in the heart of Vosne-Romanée. Since the death of Dr Georges Mugneret the estate has been run by his daughters Marie-Andrée and Marie-Christine, and their reputation now stands alongside Roumier and Rousseau — reached quietly, through consistency rather than promotion.

The vineyard work is meticulous and the winemaking gentle: fermentation in wooden vats, ageing in carefully chosen oak with new wood reserved largely for the Grand Crus. Ruchottes-Chambertin, Échezeaux and Clos Vougeot are made here, but the house is equally known for applying the same standard to its village wines.

This is the domaine’s straight Vosne-Romanée, drawn from village parcels across the commune. It carries the estate signature clearly — velvet tannins, purity of red fruit, and a long, unforced finish — and is the most accessible way into a range that is otherwise allocated in very small quantities.

2021 was a cool, small vintage that returned Burgundy to classical proportions: lower alcohol, higher aromatic definition, and wines built for the medium and long term.
