Kei Shiogai is one of the most confidential names in modern Burgundy — a Japanese vigneron working from a handful of barrels, whose wines have acquired a cult following far out of proportion to their microscopic production. Allocations are personal; bottles almost never reach the open market.
This Pommard from the Les Poisots lieu-dit, in the ripe and generous 2022 vintage, shows the signature of the house: whole-bunch perfume, silken extraction, and an energy rarely associated with the appellation.
