Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay was formed in 1989 when Laura Coffinet and Philippe Duvernay merged the holdings of two long-established Chassagne families; the Coffinet vines go back to 1860. Their son Bastien joined in 2012. The estate runs to seven hectares across seven vineyards, four of Chardonnay and three of Pinot Noir, with several parcels close to seventy years old.

Philippe takes care of the vineyards and the cellar, and works in what he calls a traditional, minimally interventionist manner: no cold soaking, no fashionable shortcuts, strict yield control, hand harvesting throughout. Fermentation is gravity fed with indigenous yeasts, and new oak is used sparingly.

This village Chassagne-Montrachet is assembled from seven separate lieux-dits across the commune, which is what gives it its balance — no single parcel dominates, and the blend covers the range of exposures and soils the village has to offer. It is the wine in which the house style reads most clearly: mineral, taut, and built around the fruit rather than the barrel.

2023 was an abundant and healthy vintage in the Côte de Beaune, giving whites with good ripeness and firm acidity. Supplied in an original six-bottle case.

NOSE

Citrus and orchard fruit, white blossom, a light hazelnut note from barrel ageing.

Palate

Balanced and finely proportioned, with limestone minerality, fresh acidity and a clean, gently nutty finish.
