Château d’Astros lies between vineyard and forest on the banks of the Argens, in the heart of the Var. The estate was founded in the thirteenth century by the Knights Templar and today extends over 680 hectares, of which eighty are planted to certified organic vines.

It has become one of the more interesting addresses in Provence — large enough to have real range, farmed organically, and serious about its winemaking in a region where volume too often wins. The wines are released under the Côtes de Provence AOP and IGP Var appellations.

Cuvée Amour is the estate’s signature range. The rosé is harvested at night to limit oxidation and preserve aromatic freshness, sulphited sparingly, and vinified in stainless steel — a direct, unadorned approach that suits the style.

Very pale with silver reflections, it belongs to the more aromatic school of Provence rosé: yellow fruit and spice rather than pure red-berry lightness, and with enough texture to work at table rather than only in the sun.
