Description

Domaine Violot-Guillemard

The Domaine Joannès Violot-Guillemard is a family-owned wine estate located in Pommard, Burgundy. Founded in 1880, it is considered a hidden gem of the region. Since 1999, the estate has practiced organic farming, achieving certification in 2014.

In 2016, Joannès Violot-Guillemard took over from his father Thierry. Under his leadership, subtle changes have been made, such as increasing the use of whole clusters in red wines from 2019 and earlier racking before autumn to extract more purity.

The estate covers approximately 9.5 hectares across prestigious appellations in the Côte de Beaune, including Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, and Beaune. Notable cuvées include the Pommard 1er Cru “Les Rugiens” and the Beaune 1er Cru “Clos des Mouches,” reflecting the purity and precision of the terroir.

The wines from the estate are known for their elegance and finesse, resulting from environmentally friendly viticulture and traditional winemaking practices. The reds are characterized by floral aromas and a silky texture, while the whites offer fresh almond notes and a rich mouthfeel with a fine tannic sensation.
