Maison Krug
Founded in 1843 in Reims by Joseph Krug, Maison Krug occupies a singular place in the world of Champagne. From its origins, the House has followed a radically different path, guided by one unwavering principle: Champagne should never be limited by the variability of nature. Joseph Krug believed that the true essence of Champagne could only be achieved through meticulous blending of wines from different years, vineyards and grape varieties, each vinified and aged separately.
This philosophy remains unchanged today. Krug is one of the rare Champagne houses to vinify every plot individually in small oak barrels, preserving the identity of each wine before blending. The House has built an exceptional reserve wine library, patiently maintained over decades, which allows Krug to recreate its signature style year after year while embracing subtle nuances of each edition.
Now part of the LVMH group, Krug has nevertheless retained its independence of spirit and its artisanal approach. Production remains deliberately limited, quality uncompromising, and every decision driven by taste rather than volume. Each bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée carries an edition number, inviting wine lovers to explore the unique story and composition behind each release.
