Vincent Dancer works just over six hectares around Chassagne-Montrachet and makes only about 15,000 bottles a year. His reputation was built on whites from Meursault and Chassagne — wines admired for their purity and precision, and deliberately set apart from the fuller, more exuberant style the Côte de Beaune produced through the 2000s.

The domaine has since extended into reds from the same terroirs, worked with the identical discipline: low yields, organic practice in the vineyard, careful extraction and restrained use of oak in the cellar. Nothing is done to add weight the fruit does not already carry.

Les Perrières is a village climat in Pommard, on stony ground that gives its name — perrières, the stone quarries. In an appellation known for firm, tannic wines, this parcel in Dancer’s hands produces something notably more supple: rich in fruit, floral in aroma, and balanced by real freshness.

2023 was an abundant vintage in Burgundy that rewarded growers who kept yields in check. This is a Pommard for those who want the appellation’s depth without its traditional severity.

NOSE

Dark cherry and redcurrant with violet and a fine stony note; discreet oak.

Palate

Smooth and elegant rather than muscular, with rich fruit, fine tannins and a fresh, lifted finish. Pommard in its restrained register.
